John Marshall was one of the founders and presidents of the Bank of Illinois, the first bank chartered by the Illinois Territorial Legislature in 1816 and opened in 1817.Thirteen Club members and one guest attended. The John Marshall House is the 3rd oldest brick building in Illinois and the first bank before Illinois was a state.There are pioneer furnishings, documents, photos and historic memorabilia.Original Bank Dockets from 1818A very early double pedal sewing machine. The rights to this machine were sold to Mr. “Singer”.A bedroom with rope beds with a feather mattress.Tents erected for families displaced by the Flood of 1937The Five Column Bank built in 1838.The VaultHuge doors with grand architecture.The columns are made from Pennsylvania sandstone.We left Shawneetown and enjoyed a great lunch at The Red Onion in Equality. Going down the hill and curve west of Murphysboro.Seven corvettes.Heading up IL-3.Getting closer.We arrived at Reid’s Harvest House in Chester.Everyone enjoying a buffet lunch!The Club arrived at Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial in Perryville, MO.The names are arranged in order of date of casualty and alphabetically on each day beginning at the center. The diamond symbol by each name denotes that the service member is known dead. The plus sign symbol denotes that the service member remains unaccounted for.You can find a name on the wall at www.thewall-usa.com.58,276 names on the wall. 40 sets of brothers, 3 sets of father and sons.We’d like to show honor to our Veterans.
